In the wake of Hurricane Helene’s destruction, Hope for Coffee was formed as a faith‑based partnership of local churches, organizations, and community advocates in Coffee County. Its mission is to deliver essential relief and long‑term support to residents recovering from the storm. Churches serve as the backbone of this effort, helping ensure that individuals in need receive immediate assistance and ongoing care throughout the recovery process. The Hope for Coffee model is based on The Hope Initiative, first established in Mayfield, Kentucky, after a devastating flood.

On October 19, 2024, Douglas Mayor Tony Paulk hosted a community meeting with pastors, church members, and local advocates to assemble a temporary board and officially launch this faith‑driven initiative. The newly formed board quickly began spreading information, coordinating damage assessments, and recruiting volunteers across Coffee County, following guidance and best practices shared by The Hope Initiative.

Community collaboration and strong partnerships are essential to Coffee County’s recovery from Hurricane Helene. By working together, Hope for Coffee aims to reach every affected resident and provide lasting, meaningful support throughout the rebuilding journey.
